Detail Itinerary

Day1: Mandalay - Monywa
The trip begins as we depart the town and drive through the scenic countryside to Moniwa, a tranquil town by the Chindwin River. On the way, we visit the impressive Thanboddhay Pagoda. The wall and archway of this structure are delicately decorated with over 500,000 Buddha images. Another enjoyable stop is Bodihtataung Pagoda which houses the largest reclining Buddha in Myanmar. On arrival , we visit some outlaying sights of the town, including the lacquer ware village of Kyaukka and the Shweguni Pagoda which is one of the most important pilgrimage sites in upper Myanmar. O/N in Monywa.

Day 2: Monywa - Powin Daung - Mandalay
Today we cross the Chindwin River and embark on a local jeep for few hour drive to Po Win Daung. This extraordinary complex containing 947 sandstone caves dug out of the hills has been to claimed by archaeologists to be the richest collection of mural paintings and Buddhist statues in South East Asia. We explore this magnificent complex as well as the nearby sight of Shwe Ba Daung whose monasteries and temples are carved out of narrow rocky cliffs. The trip ends after arrival in Mandalay. (B)
