The hidden treasure of Kakku is 46km south of Taunggyi. Upon leaving Inle Lake, we set off on two hour drive through the capital of Shan State, Taunggyi and the breathtaking mountain scenery towards Kakku. There are more than 2,000 stupas built here in a small area of just one square kilometre, surrounded by undulating mountains and trees. Using the local track, we walk through the breathtaking mountain landscape to this magnificent complex of temples and also the Pa O village. These ethnic minorities are poor but have an interesting culture and a colorful history. The trip ends after arrival at your hotel in Inle Lake. (L)
